COMMUNITY NUTRITION COALITION - VEGETABLE BASKET PROGRAM

OVER 500 POUNDS OF PRODUCE was donated to Lamb Foundation’s Cornucopia Cupboard for distribution to Lamb Residential Home Units and local families in need in the community in 2009.

This year we encourage you to share your harvest with those in need by bringing your extra home grown produce to Lamb Foundation Office or Sweet_Repeats_Thrift_Shop & Cornucopia_Cupboard during our normal operating hours. Please call 215-699-5600 or 215-661-8800 before your delivery.

We are excited to see the success of Lamb Foundation’s Gardening Program as our residents work with Suburban_Farming_Company in producing a bumper crop that is being donated to Cornucopia Cupboard for distribution.

GREATER PHILADELPHIA CARES, MERCK & LAMB FOUNDATION

During the month of June over 25 volunteers from Merck & Co. came to Lamb Foundation for a day of work, play and picnicking through the volunteer outreach program of Greater_Philadelphia_Cares. Over 100 Lamb Foundation residents enjoyed music, dancing, picnicking and games with the Merck volunteers, while a separate group of 10 volunteers scraped, plastered and sanded the interior of our newest Lamb Foundation housing project on Walnut Street in North Wales.

We look forward to future volunteer projects with our new friends at Greater Philadelphia Cares and Merck & Co.

RECYCLING – SAVING MONEY AND A GREENER LAMB

One of our goals for 2010 at Lamb Foundation is to apply greater efforts to “Going Green” while balancing our budget with savings from these efforts.

This summer, Lamb has put these initiatives into high gear by increasing our recycling collections to include textiles, cardboard, paper, and all kinds of metal. We have also added composting to our gardening club, and we have gone “paperless” in our administrative office with an electronic file system customized for The Lamb Foundation by BizproEZ Business Software.

Because of our Campus Model in North Wales, Lamb Foundation has both staff and managers doing more walking between residences -- literally “managing by walking around.” Summertime is the perfect time to replace drafty windows, insulate, weatherproof, routine cleaning of furnaces, and adding thermo sensors and timers to the HVAC systems in our homes.

We invite our environmentally minded friends to submit any suggestions or comments regarding possible future “going green” initiatives we may wish to consider for the sixty-eight (68) home units that Lamb Foundation operates for its residents. Please submit suggestions to info@LambPA.com.
